A brief history

Psychedelic, punk, prog & pop in roughly equal measures, and taking in a wealth of other influences along the way, 7shades are known for their unique and devastatingly energetic live shows and dense, multi-layered recordings.

Described as “majestically insane”, their debut album “Seven shades (of shit)” was a successful fundraiser for Tim Smith (Cardiacs) – it made around £1,500 initially (via a Pledge Music campaign), and continues to do so as £5 from every CD sale goes to his ongoing care and support.

Some great gigs in their first year included a BBC Introducing session, and a very well-received slot at the ‘From the Pond’ benefit gig in Kingston alongside Redbus Noface & Sterbus.

2016 was busy too, with the release of second album ‘Bursting’, a clutch of well-received gigs and some lineup changes! The remix album ‘Bursting (exploded)’ was also released towards the end of the year, and features some astounding re-imaginings by Cardiacs-loving luminaries. It is another fundraiser for Tim Smith, with 100% of the profits winging their way to him.

2017 looks to be better again, with gigs further afield already booked, and third album ‘The Monumental Midden’ well underway and due for release in the summer. to (hopefully) be funded by another Pledge Music campaign…
